This is a non smart aleck thread or anything and I'm being serious... I don't know about everyone else, but I was very disappointed with how SSG looked and thought it should have looked much better than how it turned out. I feel it was very half a*** and looked more like a Kaioken than anything else. When that picture leaked of SSG I thought that was the beginning of the form and that look and aura was just prepping his body for the Transformation. My question to all of you is if you had your choice, how would you have SSG look like? Edited by Saberoph, Jul 2 2014, 05:03 PM.

Not like Kaio-Ken basically. All the Pro-SSJ God people can go on about how Toriyama wanted a more subtle transformation but there's no point to that if your just going to copy an original transformation. It was literally Kaio-Ken in HD. That's it, from the red hair, to the red aura...it was freaking Kaio-Ken. You know, I'd much rather have a form that looks crazy but at least seems to have some effort put into it, then to copy paste a form that obviously is already recognizable. I mean for one, I think Goku's SSj form in movie 4 was awesome looking, it had this unique touch to it that made it stand out. For example you might have golden hair, with red aura and red electricity. Something that at least seems to differentiate beweenn SSJ God and Goku going "KAIO-KEN X ONE BILLION!!" |

i thought he looked too lean/skinny other then that i thought it was fine maybe a tad bland but its better then having goku have hair down to his legs and rainbow |

To paraphrase my slightly sarcastic self from a previous discussion... if you were underwhelmed by Super Saiyan God's appearance, then it did its job. Toriyama talked about how he specifically designed Super Saiyan God to be much more basic and less "flashy" than the prior Super Saiyan forms. The change in hair color was, apparently, just for the sake of making it look different from Goku's normal form. The slimmed-down and unimposing look sends a "don't judge by appearances" message that's common in Dragon Ball, and Beerus and Whis reflect that too. None of these three look very physically threatening, but they all hold a special and overwhelming type of power that trumps anyone else they fight. The only visual evidence of this power, until they start to fight of course, is the serene yet intense fiery aura that Beerus and Goku both display in the film. Frankly, I think Toriyama designing Super Saiyan God the way he did is a stroke of genius. It's different from past designs and the type of stuff fans would expect to see, and really shakes things up in an interesting way. ...And for crying out loud, it doesn't look like the freakin' Kaio-Ken, and I'm getting really tired of people ignorantly claiming that it does. Just look at the picture. Literally the ONLY similarity is that they both happen to use the color red, and in different ways, at that. The Kaio-Ken manifests as a deep crimson-red aura that casts a reddish glow over the user. It's just lighting. Super Saiyan God, on the other hand, actually changes the Saiyan's hair (and eyes) to a pinkish red, and has a fire-like golden-orange aura. You may as well claim that Majin Boo is a lame rip-off of Dodoria because they're both pink. Edited by Kaboom, Jul 2 2014, 06:41 PM.

It's not Kaioken 2.0 dammit. Come on people, actually look at what is in front of you. Kaioken and Ssj God share absolutely no traits other than the fact that they can be correlated to the color red. Eye Color/Design Kaioken: Black(appears pink or purple because of the lighting on the aura.) Ssj God: Red with visible pupils. Hair Color/Design Kaioken: Black(appears pink or purple because of the lighting on the aura.) Ssj God: Red with bangs resembling that of Goku's Ssj hair style. Aura Color/Design Kaioken: Red Ssj God: Oranges with a flame-like appearance. As an added bonus, Ssj God is also very lean, where Kaioken usually bulks the user up. Rant aside, Ssj God has a fine design IMO. Unimpoing, but really strong; something Toriyama would design. |

Kaioken: Red Aura that casts a redish glow around the user making the hair stand up, sometimes spiky but sometimes even wavy. SSJ God: Red/Orange aura that casts a reddish glow around the user, making the hair red and the facial expressions red while making the hair stand up and wavy. There might be some subtle differences between the forms but if it wasn't for that orange glow of the aura I can bet you many people would think it was Kaio-Ken. SSJ2 wasn't too much different from SSJ, but it was an updated form of that. SSJ God was built up as this updated form of SSJ the greatest of SSJ forms. When you make your form underwhelming you have failed in your creation. In movies, you often have instances where something is built up through the whole thing only to find out its not as great as we thought it would be. Assuming this was done purposely, its often done for comical effect. This was not, SSJ God was a serious transformation that was built up through the entire movie and well before that) and its something you don't make underwhelming. It's like if the Death Star got built up as this whole monstrously destructive machine and in the end...it blew up a small hill. There's a big difference between being underwhelming and being unique. Being underwhelming and even more so purposely making it so, shows nothing more than a lack of creativity and effort on Akira Toriyama's part. It's the difference between something that's underwhelming and something that's subtle. There is very little difference between SSJ and SSj2, it's subtle differences at that and then SSj3 makes the huge change. SSJ God was something that would've fit more along the lines of an updated Kaio-Ken or even the idea that Kaio-Ken got mixed into the SSJ transformation (not like the filler Other World Tournament business though) SSJ God as I said was less of an update on SSJ and more of an update on Kaio-Ken. One shouldn't make something underwhelming unless its for comical effect. othewise it leads to negativity to the viewers. If we get a build of something and its made out to be serious...and its underwhelming. We are not overjoyed or think "hey that's pretty unique..." we think its disappointing. And that's what it was. Even if you get passed the appearance, the buildup of SSJ God wasn't anywhere near as great as it was built up. In fact I dare say through its entire appearance Goku was still getting whooped by Beers and the when it starts getting epic and Kibou no Uta begins to play...he's not even in his SSJ God appearance anymore. He's in his regular SSJ appearance (with the SSJG power) Like SSJ God was so underwhelming and so boring that once things got good, they just threw it out and put Goku back into SSJ. The transformation looks as unconventional as the means of attaining it are. The fact is, there has to be 6 good-hearted Saiyans in order for one of them to transform. Considering how that seems to go against the nature of Saiyans, it would make sense that the transformation's a lot different to the traditional Saiyan transformation, being rather underwhelming. Yeah, I think it's underwhelming, but that's what makes it so unique. Also, regarding the situation where there's no aura? It's still obvious that it isn't Kaioken; the eyes, the hair, the slim physique, the relative calmness of Goku compared to his strained expressions while using Kaioken. It's completely different. |

I don't mind the transformation. I prefer the first two Super Saiyan forms to it, but it was still decent enough. I would have been happier if Goku didn't slim down though, I felt that was unnecessary. |

I was expecting to be not impressed. However I wasn't expected a fan made recolor of base Goku. Honestly in some angles it doesooks like Kaioken. Especially the kaioken from the Full Color manga. I wasn't expecting much, hell I would been OK with Goku having a similar look to SSG but give it something to be...idk. I hate the form. I love Chiquita version though |

It reminds of kaioken but I don't think it look likes practically the same as kaioken. I think it looks ok sometimes but I still prefer the other ssj forms. He was just way too skinny and he looks like a kid sometimes. I like how they said he was leaner but I still like when goku is buff |

Going with the reason I made this Thread, I would have done this... When Kakarrot is absorbing the Saiyan and Super Saiyan Power, I would give Kakarrot an SS aura, turning into a more like a spinning turbine flame, starting with a slow spin then speeding up... turning the aura into a golden/red flame. Then having Kakarrot's hair fly up, giving it a look between his SS2 look and his initial SS look, so it has a sort of a stiff look but with a wild and less refined design to it, then Kakarrot bursts with the same light as his aura... bursting into a SS Grade 2 like fiery aura, with a slightly more bulk than his SS form. Giving him golden eyes and red eyebrows. That's off the top of my head. |
